Hey, I'm supposed to be an independent, self-publishing fiction writer through my Samizdat Publications and yet selling my first published books had became difficult despite the good story quality and affordability of these. I think that I'll be returning soon to that search for a publishing company like I did in the past and so I must lay down my "pride" for my other unpublished manuscripts. I hope that I'll find a just and humane publisher who is open-minded to give chance to aspiring fiction writers like me, support Philippine literature and renewed interest in reading books, and without the attitude of treating the publishing industry as just some business gamble.

PSALM 91

You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who rest in the shadow of the Almighty; say to the Lord "My Refuge, my God in whom I trust"
He will rescue you from the prowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions and give you refuge under His wings. His faithfulness is your shield.
You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrows that fly by day; nor the pestilence that stalks by night and the plague that destroys at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side; ten thousand at your right hand. But nothing shall befall you. Look and see how the wicked are repaid.
If you have made the Lord God your refuge, the Most High your stronghold, no harm will come upon you. No disaster shall draw near your tent. For He will command His angels to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up with their hands so that your foot will not hit a stone.
You will trample under foot the lion and the snake. "Because he clings to Me in love, I will rescue him," says the Lord. "I will protect him for he knows My name. And when he calls to Me, I will answer. In time of trouble, I will be with him. I will deliver and honor him. I will satisfy him with long life and show him My salvation."

ORATIO IMPERATA

( A prayer for deliverance from calamities)
Almighty Father, we raise our hearts to You in gratitude for the wonders of creation of which we are part, for Your providence in sustaining us in our needs, and for Your wisdom that guides the course of the universe.
We acknowledge our sins against You and the rest of creation.
We have not been good stewards of Nature.
We have confused Your command to subdue the Earth.
The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoing, and now we reap the harvest of our abuse and indifference.
Global warming is upon us. Typhoons, floods, volcanic eruption, and other natural calamities occur in increasing number and intensity.
We turn to You, our loving Father, and beg forgiveness for our sins.
We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard-earned possessions be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made.
We beseech You to inspire us all to grow into responsible stewards of Your creation, and generous neighbors to those in need.
This we ask in the name of Your only Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Blessed Mother Mary, pray for us.
St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us.
St. Therese of the Child Jesus, pray for us.
Amen.

NOVENA OF CONFIDENCE TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

(This novena is made every hour for nine consecutive hours on the same day or it may be made once every day for nine consecutive days.)
O Jesus, You have said: “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you,” by the intercession of Mary, Your Holy Mother, I call on You, I seek from You and beg of You to listen favorably to my request.
(Mention your petition)
O Jesus, You have said: “Whatever you ask My Father in My name, He will give you”, I humbly and fervently beg from Your Heavenly Father in Your name and through the intercession of Your Most Holy Mother Mary, to grant me the favor I am asking.
(Mention your petition)
O Jesus, You have said: “Heaven and earth shall pass away but My words will never pass away”, through the intercession of Mary, Your Most Holy Mother, I am most firmly confident that my petition will be granted.
(Mention your petition)

My Jesus, Lord of my soul, You promised that Your Divine Heart would be the ocean of mercy for the needy who trust in You, I firmly believes that You can grant to me what I am asking even if it would require a miracle to do it. Where should I go knocking but at the door of Your Heart? “Blessed are they who hope in You.”
O Jesus, I confide to Your Heart (this pain/ that soul/ this intention). Look at it and do what Your Heart dictates. Let Your Heart act accordingly.
O Jesus, I count on You. I confide in You. I surrender and consecrate myself to You. I feel secure in You.
(Say one “Our Father”, “Hail Mary”, and “Glory Be to the Father...”
“Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You.” (Repeat ten times with great fervor.)
O good Jesus, You have said: I f you wish to please Me, confide in Me. If you wish to please Me more, trust in me all the more. If you wish to please Me immensely, have an immense trust in Me. Increase my confidence in You. Let me put all my trust in You. In You O Lord, I hope, let me not be confounded forever. Amen.

The 3 o’ clock Prayer

You died, Jesus, but the source of life flowed out for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.

O Fountain of Life, immeasurable Divine Mercy, cover the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

O Blood and Water which flowed out from the heart of Jesus as a Fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and the whole world (3x). Amen.

Jesus, King of Mercy, we trust in You.

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS

Sacred Heart of Jesus, hear my humble prayer on behalf of Your priests.
I pray for Your faithful and fervent priests
For Your unfaithful and tepid priests
For Your priests
who labor at home and abroad;
For Your tempted priests;
For Your lonely and desolate priests;
For Your young priests;
For Your dying priests;
For the souls of Your priests in purgatory

Merciful Heart of Jesus, remembering that they are but weak and frail human beings, give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope, and a burning love.
I ask that,
In their loneliness, You comfort them;
In their sorrow, You strengthen them;
In their frustrations, You show them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified.
Loving Heart of Jesus, keep them close to Your Sacred Heart; bless them abundantly, in time, and in eternity. Amen.
Through the intercession of Mary, our Lord’s Holy Mother, please pray for them. Amen.
Saint Jean Baptiste Marie (St. John Mary) Vianney, please pray for all your fellow priests. Amen.

"And now- all glory to Him who alone is God, who saves us through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Yes, splendor and majesty, all power and authority are His from the very beginning; His they are and His they ever more shall be. And He is able to keep you from slipping and falling away and to bring you sinless and perfect into His glorious presence with mighty shouts of everlasting joy. Amen."

NOVENA TO ST. JUDE THADDEUS

O holy St. Jude, Apostle and Martyr. Great in virtue, rich in miracle. Near in kinsman of Jesus Christ. Faithful intercessor of all who invoke your special patronage in time of need. To you I have recourse from the depth of my heart and humbly beg great power to come to my assistance. Help me in my present and most urgent petition. In return, I promise to make your name known and cause you to be invoked. St. Jude, pray for us all and all who invoke your aid.
(Pray this sincerely and meditatively 9x a day for 9 consecutive days. Believe and have faith in the will of our Lord whom our St. Jude had humbly served and loved and still in loving service to Him by praying for us. Thank you!)

A TEACHER’S PRAYER

Lord Jesus, when You lived and worked and talked amongst men in Palestine, they called you Teacher.
Help me to remember the greatness of the work which has been given to me to do; that I work with the most precious material in the world, the mind of the youth. Help me always to remember that I am making marks upon that mind which time will never rub out.
Give me patience with those who are slow to learn, and even with those who refuse to learn. When I have to exercise discipline, help me to do so in sterness and yet in love. Keep me from the sarcastic and the biting tongue, and help me always to encourage those who are doing their best, even if that best is not very good.
Help me to help my students, not only to store things in their memories, but to be able to use their minds, and to think for themselves. And amidst all the worries and the frustrations of my job, help me to remember that the future of the nation and of the world is in my hands. Amen.

Miraculous Invocation to Saint Theresa
(St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus)

O, glorious Saint Theresa, whom the Almighty God has raised up to aid and counsel mankind, I implore your miraculous intercession. So powerful are you in obtaining every need of body and soul our Holy Mother Church proclaims you a “Prodigy of Miracles”… the Greatest Saint of Modern Times.” Now I fervently beseech you to answer my petition (mention here) and to carry out your promises of spending Heaven doing good upon earthof letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses. Henceforth, dear Little Flower, I will fulfill your plea “to be made known everywhere” and I will never cease to lead others to Jesus through you. Amen.

(Pray with sincerity so that this won’t turn to be a vain, repetitive prayer. Have faith in the will of our Lord whom our St. Therese of the Child Jesus had humbly served and loved; and still in loving service to Him by praying for us. Thank you.)

Prayer of Pope Francis for the Year of Mercy
Lord Jesus Christ, You have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees You, sees Him. Show us Your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being slaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that You spoke to the Samaritan woman: “If you knew the gift of God!”
You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests His power above all by forgiveness and mercy; let the Church be Your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that Your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God.
Send Your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and Your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind.
We ask this, Lord Jesus, through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy; You who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer for the Intercession of
St. Anthony of Padua

O, dear St. Anthony, here I am before you. I come to ask for your intercession, moved by my need and trust in your compassionate goodness that everyone knows how it consoles. Hear my intercessor before God, speak for my name to the Heavenly Father of mercy, and obtain the grace which I particularly need.
I know that my faith is weak but you, who possessed this virtue in an admirable way and that faith was stirred with your preaching in the crowd, revive that faith in me and make it stronger and purer. You who have taken an evangelical life, help me to make mine more Christian, in a way of being a worthy child of the Father who is in heaven.
O Saint Anthony, come with your help in my weakness; keep me away from every illness and danger of soul and body; help me always to have faith in God, especially in the moments of trial and pain.
Bless my work, my family, your devotees throughout the world, and those who are spiritually present. Obtain for us the goodness of heart towards the poor and those who suffer.
O my protector, answer to the confidence that I always place your intercession before God.
Amen.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is offense, let me bring pardon.
Where there is discord, let me bring union.
Where there is error, let me bring truth.
Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.
Where there is despair, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness, let me bring your light.
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.
O Master, let me not seek as much
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love,
for it is in giving that one receives,
it is in self-forgetting that one finds,
it is in pardoning that one is pardoned,
it is in dying that one is raised to eternal life.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit, You who makes me see everything and shows me the way to reach my ideal. You who gives me the divine gift to forgive and forget all the wrong that is done to me and You who are in all instances of my life, is with me. I, in this short dialogue, want to thank You for everything and affirm once more that I never want to be separated from You no matter how great the material desires may be. I want to be with You and my loved ones in Your perpetual glory. To that end and submitting to God’s will through the love of His Son, Jesus Christ, I ask from You … (mention the favor that you seek). Amen.
